Out of School Care

Hi! My name is Cassidy Leger and I’m currently a student at Mount Royal University in the Bachelor of Child Studies degree, majoring in Early Learning. In my spare time I enjoy playing with my dog, and spending time with family and friends. First Friends was my second-year practicum placement and from the start I was welcomed into the family with open arms. Very quickly, I had begun to build relationships with the children and the staff. After completing my practicum, I was very excited to be welcomed onto the First Friends team as an employee! Currently, I’m working with the Before and After School children and I’m truly enjoying it!

Since a young age, I’ve loved working with children and the ability to work with children came so naturally. I knew that I wanted a career working with children. My favourite part about teaching children is watching them grow and develop and how much they can learn in such a short amount of time. The one thing that I love most about First Friends is how much we care about each child and it’s our priority to help them grow and develop. As an educator, I believe creating relationships with each child is incredibly important. It takes a village to raise a child. My personal vision is to look at the child holistically and everyone involved including the child, family, and community. Lastly, I love how they have the ability to teach me more than what I’m able to teach them!

To ensure the safety of your child, all teachers must have a valid and current First Aid Certificate. Teachers and Staff are also requested to submit a Criminal Record Check investigated by the Calgary City Police.
